Network Facilitator
I joined ACSJN as network facilitator in August 2015. I’m thrilled to join the leadership team of this vibrant network!
With over a decade of leadership experience, I bring expertise in grassroots organizing, network building and research. I have a masters in public health from Columbia University and extensive research, program development and management experience and a deep focus on adolescent and sexual health, HIV/AIDS, and issues affecting LGBTQ, and people of color communities. This structural level analysis helps me see patterns and connections within social change networks, lifting up bright spots and identifying gaps in connection early.
Recently, I shifted my professional focus to collaborative networks for social justice. My skills as a facilitator, love of structural change and desire for systems impact has led me to explore emergent strategy, human centered design, network building, leadership development and anti-oppression work. Other work experience includes strategic planning, coalition-building, technical assistance trainings, grant writing, fundraising, budget management, and communication via academic writing, reports, blogs, and social media.
As an artist, I delight in taking black and white film portraits of people in their home contexts. Whether traveling abroad or living in Philadelphia, I strive to capture people in the midst of their lives and for authentic connection. Recently, I served as artist mentor for Chinese Progressive Association Gender and Sexuality Discussion Group’s photography project, Stories from the Spectrum which was shown as part of the National Queer Arts Festival in San Francisco. This project and its process reaffirmed my belief in the the power of art as a powerful medium for connection and social justice.
You can find me teaching queer and trans yoga, hiking, and eating vegetables from her and others’ gardens along with other pursuits of love. Consuming less and building community connections take up time in my heart and my schedule. I is a proud founding member of hotpot! and a board member of the National Queer Asian and Pacific Islander Alliance. I am queer and mixed race, Chinese and white. Currently, I live and work in Berkeley, CA with roots reaching back to Philly, PA and Columbus, OH.
